5 Simple Ways To Get Through A Hectic Homeschool Day

Simple. I know it might be hard to believe but yes. I will give you 5 simple ways to get through a hectic homeschool day.

I am a homeschooling mother of 6 and I know what it’s like to have hectic homeschool days. Those days when you wake up late and are feeling like you are already behind. You haven’t had your coffee yet and your teens don’t want to wake up. Your toddler is attached to your legs asking to be picked up and held.

You ask yourself “how am I going to do this”. You just want to call it quits and take the day off.

As a homeschooling mom you have every right to do that. Sometimes, to save your sanity that is exactly what you have to do and THAT’S OKAY.

But if you are a mom who feels guilty for taking the day off then let me help you out. You can still get through that hectic homeschool day and get homeschooling done. The day might look different than your usual homeschool day but once again I am going to say that THAT’S OKAY.

The beautiful thing about homeschooling is that you get to decide what kind of day it will be. If it is a hectic day then most likely it will look different from your usual homeschooling days and that is okay.

5 Simple Ways To Get Through Your Homeschool Day

  • Prepare yourself and your children. Let them know that the day is going to run a bit different and that it’s okay. You can even make it fun and turn it into a homeschool pajama day.

  • Decide what subjects are a must to get done for the day and focus on those subjects.

  • Make it into a reading and summary day. Those are one of my favorite kind of days. Either I would read or have my children read different kinds of books and then either give me a verbal and/or written summary of what they read.

  • Videos are a great way to also get through a hectic homeschool day. There have been times when I would use YouTube (ex. History Channel, Most Dangerous Ways To School). I would print out a worksheet that would have them list the title of the video and then space to write about what they learned and any questions they had.

  • Don’t let it bring you down and make you feel like you are failing as a homeschooling mom. Don’t compare yourself to what other homeschooling moms are doing and where they are in their homeschool. You are important to your children and you will set an example of how to handle a hectic homeschool day.
