How To Simplify Your Life With A Newborn

Simplify is the magic word you are looking for when you have a newborn in your life.

This is not the time to start home renovations and plan trips. It’s time to settle down and take it easy.

Don’t worry about the to do list. Things will eventually get done sooner or later.

The best way to simplify your life when you have a newborn is to begin before their arrival.

Buy all the things you are going to need. Not just for the newborn but for the whole family. If you have younger children who are still in diapers then stock up on their essentials too.

Growth spurts happen without giving you fair warning so have a handful of bigger sizes for your kids. If you have kids who are in school then buy those school and lunch essentials ahead of time.

Prepare meals if that is something you can do. If not, buy ready to make food. Yes, I know that’s not the healthiest option but when you are sleep deprived you still have to eat something. If you have other children to take care of then having something quick that you can make will be your life saver.

The more you can prepare ahead of your newborns arrival the less stressed you will be.

In addition, stock up on all the essentials you will need. Don’t buy that pre-pregnancy size outfit because it won’t fit. Buy something comfy and don’t worry about what anyone thinks.

Take care of the basics and get your family involved. I know this time with a newborn will pass quickly but when you are in the thick of it you aren’t going to think about that.

One of the best things that you can do as a mother is to prepare yourself mentally. The more you know about what you are going to go through the more you can prepare yourself.

You know you aren’t going to get much sleep in the first weeks with a newborn so don’t plan out your days. Spend that time with your newborn and try to get as much rest as you can. Your to-do list will have to be put on hold.

Prepare yourself for those days when you will be feeling down and give yourself a pep talk that it will pass. Please find those who will support you in all your needs. Your spouse should be your number one.

Unfortunately, that is not always the case. I want you to know that as a believer there is someone who cares for you and will provide for all your needs if you turn to Him.

Now it may not be how you want it but He knows better how to help you out. Yes, I am talking about God.

If it wasn’t for Him, I wouldn’t be here. I had the support of a great husband and my mother and mother-in-law. They were a great help. But there were times where mentally I was struggling and God was the only one who could help me deal with those issues.

Life with a newborn makes you go through a variety of feelings and thoughts. Your body is going through so much and sometimes it’s hard for mothers to process all of that.

Having as much knowledge as you can about the whole process definitely helps when things get tough.
