Looking For Peace In My Daily Life – Mom Life

Who is not looking for peace these days? I know I am. As a mother I think about peace all the time. What is peace to me?

It is when I can go outside and smell the fresh air and hear the birds singing and feel the wind blowing.

When I can go inside my home and have what I need to get ready for the day.

When my children are with me and they are getting along.

When my teenagers have a drama free day.

Most of all, what peace means to me is having no worries about what will happen to my family and Myself. When my body, mind, and soul are quiet. When I know that my Heavenly Father, no matter what, will be there for me and that ultimately peace comes from Him. Oh how I long to have that kind of peace always.

I feel like most of the time, us as mothers, are not at peace. We always have something to worry about. The worry turns into fear and anxiety that eats away at our mind, body, and soul. Sometimes we just have to stop and remember who our Creator is and what He has promised us.

This Bible verse has been on my mind…

“The LORD is my shepherd;

I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures;

He leads me beside the still waters.

He restores my soul;

He leads me in the paths of righteousness

For His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil;

For You are with me;

Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

You anoint my head with oil;

My cup runs over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

All the days of my life;

And I will dwell in the house of the LORD

Forever.

Psalm 23

What do we want as mothers? I would have to say we want a lot of things and most of them are good.

Right?

We want to cook healthy meals, we want to have a clean house, we want our children to behave, we want a good relationship with our husband and with our children. We want good health and to fit into those clothes we have been holding on to and hoping to fit into one day.

A lot of those things will require a lot of hours, perseverance, patience, and hard work. But… we have God on our side.

I know we want to do everything at once but that is only going to lead to frustration and disappointment. Start with one thing and keep at it and then add on. For example, you want to have a clean house. One thing you can do is by giving everything a place and putting things away. Do you want to grow your relationship with God? Pray wherever you are. Don’t try to do everything at once.

We have God on our side and he will provide for us all that we need.

Don’t forget about rest!

Rest…it is okay to rest. Put those feet up and take a nap. God is telling us that it is okay. I am telling you that it is okay.
